Always Sometimes Monsters – Mini Review!

What is it?

Always Sometimes Monsters is an RPG that lets you play as a character that you’ve chosen, in a quest to profess your love to your ex. It’s kind of a lame story, but you’re able to roam around various places, picking up odd jobs to get a bit of cash as well as doing some less scrupulous things in order to travel across the country to your destination.

Pros
Cons
Decent story.
Fairly free-roaming.
Good play time.
Fair amount of things to do that affect the story.
Illusion of choice.
Story isn’t bad, but there was no real motivation for wanting to find your ex.

Verdict:

I’m not really sure what to think about Always Sometimes Monsters. On the one hand, I do like RPGs made using RPG Maker, and this one is a doozy with a decentish story, but it lets itself down with having a bit of a weird character that is obsessed with his/her ex, which isn’t something that I could really associate with. You’ll be able to play through it in about 5 hours, so it’s not a terrible playtime either – but if you do choose to play it, then don’t be too surprised if you find it’s not quite your cup of tea.
