International Track and Field 2 – Mini Review!

What is it?

To coincide with the Sydney Olympics in 2000, Konami released another in their series of athletics based games – International Track and Field 2. Named other things on other consoles, the game featured a number of events which followed the same sort of format the previous games did – button bashing heaven.

Platform(s)

PS1

Pros
Cons
Very challenging to win every event.
Great fun to play with friends.
Solid button bashing fun.
Wide array of events.
Has aged poorly.
Some events are not well written.

Verdict:

The sequel to the 1996 game was a pretty decent attempt. It left some of the quirkiness that the original had behind, which is a bit of a shame, but it still had solid gameplay. Lots of button bashing, lots of gold medals to win and even more important – lots of world records to break. Terrific fun, even if it looks terrible now. Definitely worth playing.
