Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 – Mini Review!

What is it?

Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 – or PES2017 – is the most recent version of Konami’s famed football simulator. Back again are the Be a Pro, Master League and MyClub modes, but with some small updates to keep players interested.

Platform(s)

PC, PS4, Xbox One

Pros
Cons
Great graphics.
Fantastic mechanics and gameplay.
Keepers vastly improved.
Master League is still unparalleled.
Marco Hagemann is a good commentator.
Online mode is not as good as FIFA.
Commentary is the worst in any game in the past five years.
UI is very outdated now.
Refs aren’t great.

Verdict:

Choosing between FIFA and PES is not an easy decision for any football enthusiast, and this season it’s still a challenge. PES definitely plays football better, and the Master League mode is still better than anything offline FIFA can offer, but it is still five or six years in the past when it comes to various niceties around the game. The UI of PES is just so sub-standard when compared to FIFA, or any modern game really, and that is what players see straight away, giving off a terrible impression straight away. I’d still recommend it though – I have played a lot more of it compared to FIFA this year, but there is definite room for improvement.
