What is it?
The Raven is a point and click adventure game released in 2013 that sees you play as Constable Zellner in his pursuit of the master thief only known as the Raven. It’s an excellent homage to Agatha Christie, with a brilliant plot set in the 1960s and wonderful, colourful characters to match. There are three episodes that take you through some beautifully crafted worlds that are a real joy to play.
Great, realistic puzzles.
Brilliant cast of characters.
Decent amount of play time – around ten hours or so.
Users have reported a few bugs.
Non-controller users may find it a little iffy.
Some puzzles can be a little tricky to deal with.
This is one of my favourite point and click adventures in recent times – decent length, brilliant characters and an excellent story. It helps that I’m also a big murder mystery fan! The controls with a keyboard and mouse aren’t great, but they’re definitely not terrible and you can still play through the game with it, and I highly recommend you do, especially if you’re an Agatha Christie fan. The resemblances that Zellner shares with Poirot are not a mistake – and he’s certainly every bit the lovable detective our favourite Belgian detective was.
