FINAL THOUGHTS | SoulCalibur VI Beta

Overall, Soulcalibur VI is shaping up to be a VERY decent fighter. I can't wait to get my pole out and shake it all around! Don't take my word for it though, Soulcalibur VI is released on all good platforms (except Nintendo) on the 19th October 2018.

Eyup everyone, Tat here. In case you blinked at all this weekend, you’ve probably missed the SoulCalibur VI Beta. Luckily for you, I took it upon myself to jump in head first and lock weapons with other players on the PlayStation Network. Safe to say, SoulCalibur VI makes onto my top three most-wanted games this year! It’s been in development for years now, so hopefully, this incarnation should wipe the floor with the disappointing SoulCalibur V. Here’s a video of my first fight, playing as my all-time favourite fighting game character, Kilik.

SoulCalibur VI: Final Thoughts

SoulCalibur VI isn’t just a massive improvement in the character selection window, the combat is ten-times more fluent and less complex than previous incarnations. As seen in my gameplay video, counters and combinations are all accomplished with the press of a button. All the cult favourite characters make a return with their traditional fighting styles.

Although the gameplay beta only showcased the game’s online features, it still held strong. Slow-motion segments, characters transforming, tapping into hidden power, it’s all inside. Ferocious button mashing will only get you so far this time and instead the player’s memory, timing and brutality will all be tested in SoulCalibur’s online mode. Dragging seasoned veterans out of their comfort zones and giving the new blood a chance to refine their skills. It’s clear the development team over at Project Soul have been working hard to deliver a SoulCalibur experience that works for everyone!

Overall, SoulCalibur VI is shaping up to be a VERY decent fighter. I can’t wait to get my pole out and shake it all around! Don’t take my word for it though, SoulCalibur VI is released on all good platforms (except Nintendo) on the 19th October 2018. What better way to test how the game plays using the Unreal Engine than to get your greasy gamer-paws on it mid-October. Transcending history and the world!
