What is it?
Basketball Time is as you would expect, a basketball game. It’s probably one of the most fun basketball games I’ve ever played as well. It has some decent art assets, good soundtrack, and some of the most addictive gameplay I’ve encountered in a phone game. It’s a pure skill game. Getting the angle and timing of your swipe perfect to hit that sweet spot is as challenging as it is fun. Getting a streak going is surprisingly hard, but when you see yourself on top of the leaderboard amongst your friends, the time you spent perfecting the throw feels totally worth it. It even comes with a second mode to keep the game fresh, a time attack mode where you can throw balls as quick as you can manage. You get 60 seconds to put as many as you can into the basket, but if a ball bounces back towards you, it can hit your subsequent throws, so you have to be careful and time everything perfectly!
Simple, but so much fun.
Two game modes for double the fun.
Good soundtrack, never overbearing or intrusive.
Very little tolerance for failures.
It didn’t take me long to realise I had found a real gem in Basketball Time. It’s a simple idea – get the timing of the swipe and the angle good enough and you’ll score a point – but the execution is anything but. It’s a real challenge to hit that sweet spot, but when you hit the sweet spot, and then continue hitting that sweet spot to get an unbeatable streak, it feels fantastic. It’s incredibly addictive, but easily the best basketball game I’ve played in a very long time. Definitely worth picking this game up, especially as it’s free.
