Carmageddon: Max Damage (PC) | Mini Review

What is it?

Carmageddon: Max Damage is a driving game developed by Stainless Games Ltd. and published by THQ Nordic in 2016. It is a re-release of Carmageddon Reincarnation, albeit with new maps, vehicles and more. As the psychopathic destruction derby racers Max Damage or Die Anna, you must participate in competitive matches against other drivers as you race for checkpoints, fight one another, hunt down pedestrians, and more.

Pros
Cons
Huge selection of chaotic game modes.
A mix of insanely big or nice ‘n’ tight maps with oodles of traps and hazards.
Sizeable armory of weird power-ups for destroying opponents and killing peds.
You can repair your car on the go in exchange for points. Watching scrap metal fly back onto your car is awesome.
Smashing other racers is great fun.
The suspension and grip on each vehicle is very shaky and sloppy.
Classic Carma mode kinda sucks cuz no one will race around the track, and killing all peds will take hours .
Drivers tend to go for you rather than one another.
Forgettable soundtrack.
New, unlockable vehicles quickly overshadow the others; don’t waste your upgrade tokens on them.

Verdict:

Even though each vehicle in the game handles poorly – some cars feel all too samey when you’re riding them – Carmageddon: Max Damage is still a very sizeable game that specializes in manic vehicular combat.
