Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche | Mini Review

What is it?

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche is a shoot-’em-up side-scroller by Wayforward. The intergalactic cat-eared bounty hunter Kebako and her squeaky-voiced chum Squiddie fly and shoot their way through space in order to chase down the galaxy’s most diabolical scoundrels.

Platform(s)

PC & Switch

Pros
Cons
Gorgeously vibrant and eye-catching visuals.
Befittingly bubbly and energetic soundtrack.
Creative weapons inspired by different game genres (e.g. Arcade Gun launches a Pac-Man look-alike, Sports Gun flings golf balls, etc.).
Puts up a pretty decent challenge.
Kebako’s outfit is so dope.
Lots and lots and lots of dialogue.
Some framerate issues on the Switch.
Awfully short, can be completed in well under a few hours.

Verdict:

Thanks to its approachable difficulty, simplistic gameplay, luscious visuals and imaginative arsenal, Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche makes for a pretty damn good distraction on occasions. Think of it as a slice of cheesecake: small, yet sweet.
