Mario Bros. (NES) | Mini Review

What is it?

Mario Bros. is a platformer developed and published by Nintendo in 1983. The unforgettable Italian plumber must jump and hit the platforms above him to stun turtles and crabs running amok through the sewers. Stunned enemies need to be kicked into the water. The stage is completed when all enemies are K.O.’d.

Platform(s)

NES, Wii, Wii U, Switch

Pros
Cons
Coin collecting mini game.
More fun in 2-player.
Level layout remains the same across each level.
Janky jump physics.
Can’t move mid-air if you stand still and jump.
Gets repetitive quickly.

Verdict:

While there’s some joy to be had with the cooperative/competitive 2-player mode, Mario Bros. is just too clunky and samey for regular play.
