Resident Evil 7 | Mini Review

What is it?

Resident Evil 7 is a survival horror first-person shooter developed by Capcom. You take the role of Ethan Winters, An “American Civilian” on the hunt for his missing (and presumed dead) wife Mia, on a plantation in Dulvey Louisiana. Winters finds himself fighting for his life as the homeowners relentlessly chase him down, seemingly unharmed by even the most lethal attacks. What are they hiding? Who are they? And Why do they want Mia?

Pros
Cons
A blend of action-packed battles and tense chases.
Very deep story and character development.
Genuinely scary, grotesque and tense, but also pretty comedic at times.
Plenty of guns and goodies give it plenty of replay value.
Works well as a FPS.
Heavy focus on action may alienate older fans of the series.
Lots of emphasis on hiding during the first act.
Uninteresting enemies.
Highly gimmicky boss fights.
Sudden, abrupt and unsatisfying ending.

Verdict:

Resident Evil 7is a great game that provides a fresh experience to the series. With the game being roughly 4 hours long, you could easily run through it in an afternoon. Compared to the rest, it’s a breath of fresh air. We may never see another Resi game like this again (given how the game ends) but it would be interesting to see what they would do with a sequel.
