Terraria – Mini Review!

What is it?

Think 2D Minecraft. Monster slaying, creating all manner of crazy structures and collecting resources are the aim here in in this charmingly retro gem.

PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, iOS & Android

Great with friends
Fantastic retro feel
Awesome music
Tons of items to collect and create
Not very beginner friendly
Gameplay is fairly repetitive with a focus on grinding to get (unessential) but rare drops
Visiting Wikis to progress is made essential by the game’s unclear goals
No dedicated servers

It’s a game that can grow tiring very quickly if played solo, more so if you don’t know what to do, however it’s great to play with others. Whilst it has obvious similarities with Minecraft it still manages to go in it’s own direction (being more combat focused) and ends up being better for it. It can be some of the best fun you’ll have once you really get into it. Just be wary that it’s tough at first.
