December 2020 PS Plus Games | News

Whether you’re the proud owner of bleeding-edge hardware or holding off until the predictable swathe of post-launch teething troubles subsides, December is always a tough time for Playstation owner wallets. Luckily, PS Plus is here to give you something to play for free on PS4 or PS5 until those sweet Boxing Day sales are upon us.

Remember, there’s no reason to miss out on free games! Simply add the Plus titles to your library and play them at a later date, as long as you have a valid Plus subscription.

First up, is proper gaming royalty. Team 17’s Worms franchise took the world by storm (and rage-quit) way back in 1995 and has seen several inter-generational multi-platform iterations over the decades. The premise was simple but enduringly addictive: command a squad of helium-voiced invertebrates packing ridiculous, overpowered weapons (exploding sheep and holy hand grenades, to name but a few) and blow your human-or AI-controlled enemies out of existence on fully-destructible maps.

Rumble is a brand new release that takes the turn-based comical carnage we know and love and adds a modern-day twist – real-time arena-based 32-player cross-platform combat! Customise your worm for maximum war zone street-cred and slither, hop and wall-bounce your way to devastating weapons of mass destruction in single or team PvP on hazard-filled destructible maps.

Play with friends and not-so-friendlies across Playstation and PC in seasonal and community events, complete daily challenges for additional XP and in-game rewards (to use for cosmetics). You can even experiment with new gameplay mechanics and weapons in The Lab!

Worms Rumble is available for PS4 and has an optimised PS5 version as well.

Available from December 1st.

Continuing the trend of entries from long-running series, the Just Cause franchise is the benchmark for rampant, player-created chaos and PS subscribers get their hands on the latest entry for free! Jump into an action-packed open-world sandbox experience and cause inventive destruction with a wide selection of weaponry, vehicles and gear.

As iconic rogue agent Rico Rodriguez, skydive into the exotic climes of Solis, South America: an exotic playground of 1024 square kilometres filled with diverse biomes like rainforests, deserts and snowy mountain peaks to explore. Fight Black Hand, a tech-driven private military organisation led by a maniacal despot that has unleashed a Bond-villain-esque weather machine capable of generating terrifying environmental conditions. Navigate treacherous tornadoes, tropical lightning storms and use incredible in-game physics to turn the extreme weather to your advantage.

Strap into your wingsuit, equip your fully customizable grappling hook, and bring your most outrageous explosive fantasies to life!

Available from December 1st.

If you’re getting bored of falling out of the sky with 99 other violent psychopaths all eager to fight tooth and claw to be the last person standing, Rocket Arena might be just the PvP experience you’ve been looking for. Offering a more intimate versus experience, the colourful 3v3 team shooter combines Overwatch-style hero classes with explosive ordinance to create outrageous death matches.

Dynamic maps and an ever-growing roster of heroes – each with distinctive abilities and rewarding team synergies – complete a quick-fix addictive game loop that makes Rocket Arena easy to get into but hard to master. Season 2 features new hero Leef, a new map, limited-time events, challenges and tons of exciting items to collect!

Available from December 1st.
