While 2020 has been a year that seen an unusual amount of restrictions placed on us, the launch of the ninth generation consoles promises to free us from loading times and hardware that was arguably obsolete on arrival.

Well. That was a stretch.

Regardless, what good is a freshly unboxed Series X or S, if you don’t have anything to play on it? For those looking to spare their wallets further expense or even if you’ve not made the next-gen leap, Games with Gold is here to save you some cash this November.

Like Playstation Plus, you can add titles to your library to play later but they will only be accessible with an active Gold or Gamepass Ultimate membership. Unlike PS Plus, Gold freebies tend to swap in and out during the course of the month, so be sure to grab them all before they’re gone!

Aragami casts you as a vengeful undead assassin with mastery of the shadows. Summoned by a young girl to infiltrate the occupied city of Kyuryu, discover the dark and bloody past of Aragami and use your supernatural abilities to best your opponents. Create shadows to create advantages, teleport from shadow to shadow and even summon a shadow dragon to aid you with dispatching enemies. This stylish third-person stealth-action game offers the city is your playground, allowing you to approach each situation however you decide. Flit past enemies like a ghost or silently take down everyone in your path: your story, your choices.

The Shadow Edition contains Nightfall, a story DLC that serves as a prequel to the main game and offers online cross-platform co-op so that you and a friend can put your stealth skills to the test.

Available from November 1 – 30.

As is customary every month, one of the Games with Gold selection always an OG Xbox favourite from Microsoft’s first foray into the console scene. This month unveils Full Spectrum Warrior, an US Army ground troops tactical action game that offers (for the time) unparalleled authenticity to real-world operations and immersive implementation of actual army doctrine.

Using a third-person over-the-shoulder perspective, players command two squads deployed in an offensive taking place in the fictional war-torn country of Zekistan. Working in a similar fashion to the early Mass Effect games, Full Spectrum Warrior lets you direct ally movement and actions in real time to add a tactical layer to the third-person shooting. If you’re having difficulty controlling both squads, there’s online co-op play with another player.

Available from November 1 – 15.

There’s a clear shortage of underwater-themed side-scrolling multiplayer shooters but luckily Swimsanity! has this nichest of niche genres covered. Supporting play for up to 4 people either online or couch, Swimsanity! offers 8 action-packed game modes ranging from adventure mode to PvP and supports over 150 challenges that unlock unique powers and weapons to help you survive all that the deep has to throw your way. Working like an underwater shooty version of the 360 classic Castle Crashers, players will need quick reflexes and teamwork to survive the day.

Available from November 16 – December 15.

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures takes the fun and creative construction of LEGO and combines it with the wits, daring and non-stop action from the original cinematic adventures that enthralled audiences everywhere while thankfully sparing players of the horrors of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

With a unique tongue-in-cheek take on the original adventures, LEGO Indiana Jones follows the escapades of Dr. Jones through the jungles of South America to the mountaintops of India. Whip, shoot, platform and brawl their way through iconic cinematic moments, from Indy’s fear of snakes, alternative methods of dealing with swordsmen and even his legendary dashing boulder run. Additionally, players can also mix and match the body parts of more than 60 playable characters to create new heroes in more than 18 different levels that mirror the classic films.

Available from November 16 – 30.

Stylish stealth, classic adventure, shoot-em-up mayhem and tactical combat, not bad for a month’s wort of freebies!
