Rumour: Super Mario Remasters To Be Announced This Month? | News

Rumours from various sources back in March, including Eurogamer and VGC, imply that Nintendo are to announce a collection of ports, featuring remastered versions of 3D Mario games. Supposedly, this’ll include Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, alongside a deluxe version of Super Mario 3D World.

The Nintendo podcast Nate The Hate implies that COVID-19 forced the company to push the release date back. The insider speculated: “I believe the original plan was that the 3D collection was going to come out in September, had these games been announced in June… we probably would have had 3D World Deluxe follow it in either October of maybe even early November. Now that’s completely scrapped.”

There were speculations that a Mario-themed Switch was also to be announced and released in time for the holidays.

The podcast then implied that the release date for Super Mario 3D World on Switch would likely be released in the New Year. Nevertheless, since the iconic plumber’s 35th birthday is this month (Mario Bros. was released in Japan on the 13th in 1985), hopefully we’ll receive a confirmation from the company in an announcement soon.
