I love videogames. I love writing. I love writing about videogames. The trouble is that with 3 kids, a job and all those boring responsibilities that come with being an adult, I don’t get to play as much as I would like. In turn, this feeds my anxiety as I convince myself both that I’m incapable of playing the games and incapable of writing about my experience to the required standard.
My post-therapy mantra is one I repeat often – you can change. And so with that in mind, I set about planning how I could serve my gaming appetite whilst also breaking the back of my self imposed quality filter.
30 Games Of April.
Here’s the plan – 30 games in 30 days. One game a day for the whole of the month. Any system, any genre, any quality. Whether I get to the end or quit ten minutes in, I’ll write about whatever I find. Some will be gems. Some will be dross. But then weren’t videogames ever thus.
I’m not sure if this is the best idea I’ve ever had, the craziest or somewhere in between. By day 5 I expect I’ll be panicking over content and quality. But then that’s kinda the point, to restore the balance and take games as they are supposed to be taken.
Let’s have some fun.
